Michael Boran’s photographs come from some strange experimental laboratory of the everyday world. Curious things are photographed as found in situ so we can study but not quite explain them. Reproduced with meticulous clarity things seem to be not quite themselves. They hover between a physical presence and reflections of other animate forces. Scale and the similarity of the micro and macro-cosmos are explored. Found artifacts of both man and nature contain the common impulse to refer to something beyond themselves. Boran’s photographs are like mediations, begining with a here and now encounter and journeying towards a synchronistic connectedness.
