‘Another Setting’ takes its title from ‘The Durutti Column’ album of the same name.I was listening to this album at a time where my life could have taken a different direction and I associate it with the feelings of excitement, wonder and apprehension in anticipation of this change. It wasn’t meant to be in the end, and the album in turn has a sad association. The music brings me back to that time and the feelings around it in a visceral way.

In the piece for this show I used thread to stitch together scraps of a rag and two paintings. The stitching is the most intricate and the time-consuming element of the piece and it holds the disparate elements together. In a way music has that same function, hazy feelings or memories are brought into fuller definition when we listen to an album that has affected us at some point in our lives.
