If you’re in London this weekend be sure to catch ‘It’s Happening Now’ opening Friday the 2nd at Safe House 1, 139 Copeland Rd, Peckham SE15 3SN. An artist talk will be held Saturday the 3rd at 3pm and Oliver Comerford will be speaking.
The Art Society is the project name for a series of three international art exhibitions that taking place in London in April and October 2018 and also in May 2019. Twenty-nine artists from seven different countries are participating in the project. All three exhibitions highlight the multiple manifestations of time in art. In order to underline this particular focus the exhibition titles are “To Make Art Happen”, “It’s Happening Now” and “What Happened Then?”
There will be public talks through the exhibitions with workshops and performances, crossing borders with the public, artists and academics from other countries, to bring people together and forge connections between artists in Europe and beyond.
The exhibition is funded by the Icelandic Art Fund. The exhibitions involve a number of prominent artists such as Robert Holyhead, Kristinn Mar Palmason, Natasha Kidd, Oliver Comerford, Johanna Kristbjorg Sigurdardottir, Kevin Atherton, Sigurdur Gudmundsson, Asdis Sif Gunnarsdottir, Hatty Lee, and Elizabeth Russell.
The Art Society takes place at Safehouse 1, Copeland Road London in association with Maverick Projcets. Maverick Projects offers unique locations for art exhibitions, theatre, events, filming and photography shoots and provide production and event management services, is supported by the National Lottery though the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Architectural Heritage Fund.
